Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about SnapDose
What is SnapDose?
SnapDose is an AI-powered WhatsApp assistant designed to help people with Type 1 Diabetes estimate carbohydrates and see how those estimates relate to their insulin settings by sending a photo of their meal.
Does SnapDose tell me how much insulin to take?
No. SnapDose estimates carbohydrates and shows how those estimates relate to the settings you provide. It does not account for factors like current glucose, active insulin, illness, or exercise. You remain in control of all insulin decisions.
Is SnapDose a medical device?
No. SnapDose provides educational support only and is not a medical device. It does not replace clinical advice or your existing care plan.
How accurate are the carb estimates?
SnapDose provides estimated carbohydrate ranges based on visual analysis. Accuracy depends on the meal and photo quality. Estimates are intended to support decision-making, not replace judgement.
How should I send food photos for the best results?
For the most accurate estimates, add any helpful details as a caption when you send the photo in WhatsApp. Captions help SnapDose understand portion size, ingredients, and preparation — especially when meals look similar in photos.
Examples of helpful captions:
- • "Large pistachio cookie, about palm-sized"
- • "Chicken pasta, creamy sauce, full restaurant portion"
- • "2 slices sourdough, smashed avocado, fried eggs"
- • "Small bowl of rice, grilled salmon, vegetables"
Add the caption before tapping send so it's included with the image.

Is SnapDose suitable for Type 2 Diabetes?
SnapDose is currently designed specifically for people with Type 1 Diabetes.
Do I need to download an app?
No. SnapDose works entirely through WhatsApp.
Is my data safe?
Yes. Your data is encrypted and never sold. Privacy is a core design principle.
How does the 7-day free trial work?
You get full access to SnapDose for 7 days. No credit card is required. You can cancel at any time.
